NFL Week 13 Picks of the Week - top three can’t miss NFL Picks

November 30th, 2010 by admin

Here we go. Kicking things off on Thursday night, it’s the Eagles vs. the Texans in Philly. The Eagles have sort of under performed in their last couple of games since blowing out Washington. We’re looking for them to bet back on track in a big way and show the rest of the league that they’re a force to reckon with. Take Philly and give up the 8.5

New Orleans vs. Cinci. - Cinci is not playing good football and the same can’t be said for the Saints. They’re firing on all cylinders right now and this looks like a shoot out. Problem is the Saints will likely score touchdowns at a 2-1 rate on Cinci. We’ll go with 56 - 28 for the Saints which will see them easily cover the 7 point spread. As indicated for those of you who like the over unders, this one looks like an easy over.

Buffalo vs Minnesota. - Are you kidding me, the Vikings are 7 point favorites. We don’t think they should be a touchdown favorite against anyone let alone the upstart Bills. We love the Bills to cover that spread and perhaps win this one outright at the Metrodome.

Dallas vs. Indy - Seriously, Indy favored 5.5. Really, did those oddsmakers watch their last game against San Diego? Peyton had it handed to him and when this occurs, he gets off his game. It also doesn’t help that they are banged up beyond belief. Here’s another game where not only do we think Dallas will cover, we think they have a big shot to win it outright.

Week 12 in the NFL

November 24th, 2010 by admin

It’s finally here the day we’ve all been waiting for. Football from morning to night with a turkey put in there somewhere in the middle.

First up we have New England vs. Detroit to kick things off. The line is the Pats by a touchdown but we think that’s too much. Detroit finally has a decent team this year (too bad their star quarterback is banged up) and they usually treat this turkey day game like their superbowl. New England on the other hand after playing and winning some really big games seemingly wouldn’t exactly be getting up for this one. We like Detroit to cover the spread and give the Pats a run for their money. Take the Lions.

Next we have New Orleans visiting Dallas. The line on this one opened with New Orleans favored 1 and has steadily moved up to New Orleans -4. Look for this one to go even further and we’re with the money. The way New Orleans has been playing lately they really seem to be hitting their stride and they’re putting up big points on the board. With all the issued in Dallas this year we just really don’t see them being able to run with the Saints. Take the Saints and give up the points.

To close things off while you’re laying on the couch we have the Cincinnati Bengals rolling into New York to play the Jets. Now if the Jets aren’t the luckiest team in the league I don’t know who is. Overtime, overtime, last minute field goals etc etc. Some would say, hey at least they’re getting the job done and that is true, however they’re not blowing out anyone and to give up 9 points seems ridiculous. We love the Bengals and the 9 points we’ll be getting to close things off.

Sunday

The lock of the week for Sunday has to be Philly vs. Chicago. The Eagles are favored by 3.5 points and we think it should be 10. Philly terrorized Washington two weeks ago and then came back and didn’t play well at all against the Giants but still defeated them. We believe that the Giants defense may be the best in the league and Chicago is going to have trouble containing Mike Vick. Look for Vick to have another big day in Chi-town. Take the Eagles and give up the points.

NFL Week 11 Lock #1 - Cleveland Browns vs. Detroit Tigers

November 19th, 2009 by admin

At first glance this doesn’t look like a game that would keep anyone’s interest outside of Ohio or Michigan. However upon closer examination this is a 5 star play. Detroit has been below average, no questions there, they’ve won only one game and seem pretty much the same as last year. If you have watched this team this year, you know that they are in fact a much better squad than last year. They’ve had some leads against some good teams only to come apart in the second half of games. Their offence is definitely capable of putting up some points on occasion. The Cleveland Browns are also 1-8 however we believe are a much much different story. The Browns have been, for lack of a better word “brutal”. Their defense is reasonable, however their offence is like nothing we’ve ever seen before. They cannot move the ball at all. A first down seems like a pipe dream, never mind an actual touchdown. From what we witnessed last Monday night, the only points Cleveland would seem to have a chance to get would be off a turnover. We absolutely love this game, you get the Lions at home, and you only have to give up somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 points. Also take note the Browns are coming in on the dreaded short rest. Take the Lions for the absolute lock of the week.

NFL Week 11 Lock#2 - Phillidelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears

November 19th, 2009 by admin

The Eagles seem to be struggling lately and as a result are roughly a field goal favorite against the Bears on Sunday night. The Bears however have been terrible of late. This one seems like a great place for the Eagles to get things back on track and show the nation the contenders that they consider themselves to be. Look for Donovan to get it going mixed in with a little Mike Vick wildcat which really hasn’t got untracked this year like many expected it would and it all spells trouble for Jay Cutler and the struggling Chicago Bears. Take the Eagles and give up the points.

NFL Week 11 Lock #3 - Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans

November 19th, 2009 by admin

The Tennessee Titans have definitely been on a roll since bottoming out and making the change at quarterback to Vince Young. Vince to his credit has handled himself well since stepping in and they’ve been putting some points up on the board. However this week they match themselves up against a real football team. Take note, these Texans are for real. They’re solid throughout and are definitely capable of putting up some points on the board. If the Titans allow this game to become a shootout, it’s not going to be pretty for them. The Texans are roughly 4.5 point favorites and we like them at this number. They should have there way with the Titans defense all night. Monday night, home crowd, rested, things all seem on track for a Texans victory. For those of you that like the over / under plays, the number on this one is in the 48 range and we think it’s a slam dunk to go over. these two teams both just put up way too many points for that number.

NFL Week 9 Lock#2 - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos

November 6th, 2009 by admin

Monday nighter

Pittsburgh rolls into town to take on the Bronco’s. We believe that Bronco’s record is not an indication of their true talent. To sum it up, we fell they’ve been lucky. Real lucky. They piled up some of their wins against some suspect opponents and had it handed to them by the Ravens. We believe the Steelers will be able to do the same. The only question may be the Steelers running game, which isn’t quite up to par for Steeler standards, in any case this looks to us like a lock. Take the Steelers and give up the paltry 3 points for a gift on Monday night.

NFL Week 9 Lock#1 Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Bucs

November 6th, 2009 by admin

Green bay rolls into Tampa off a tough defeat against the Vikings. The good news for the Pack is they’re matched up against the lowly Tampa Bay Bucs. Word on the street is the Bucs will be starting another new no-name quarterback and that can’t be good news for Bucs fans. The Packers D-Line should be licking their chops, especially after just coming up against the Vikings O-line in their last match-up. We think this one won’t be pretty. Look for the Packers to light it up early and just keep piling it on. 9 ½ points seems like a steal as the Pack may take this one by 30.

NFL Week 8 Wrapup

November 2nd, 2009 by admin

Things that stood out in week #8.

How about them Texans, they just may be for real. Buffalo was on a bit of a roll, but they rolled in to town and taught the Bills a lesson.

Were the Colts average or did the Niners step-up?? The jury is out, let’s see how these two perform next week.

The Cowboys are starting to heat it up. Lookout if Tony Romo gets on the same page with his receivers. That Dallas “D” may finally be starting to gel as a unit. Team to watch.

Eagles. WOW!! What more can be said, no Brian Westbrook and yet they took it to the Giants. This one was over at half-time. On the other side of the ball, what is happening in New York. The Giants looked unbeatable to start the year and now they look like they would have trouble with the league doormats. Missing Plaxico?

The Ravens finally uncovered some holes in the Broncos. We’ve felt all along that there was no way the Broncos were nearly as good as their record indicated. The Ravens and Joe Flacco are certainly showing why many feel they’re one of the elite in the NFL.

Feel the lobbying should start to have the Miami Dolphins name changed to the “Miami Wildcats”. What can we say, they’re a mediocre bunch with an average second string quarterback who just keep getting the job done. Until someone shows they can stop the Wildcat, expect healthy doses to continue. The Jets certainly disappointed us yesterday as we expected a much better effort. Difficult team to figure out.

Bears destroyed the Browns. What more can be said. The Browns are a sorry excuse for an NFL squad in need of a major over-haul.

Rams finally put up a “W”. Whatever they’re paying Stephen Jackson isn’t enough. Although it was against the banged up Lions, but a “W” is a “W” no matter how you slice it.

In the game of the day, Brett Favre and his Minnesota Vikings went into Lambeau Field and handed it to the Green Bay Packers. That must have been sweet for Brett. The Vikings are on a roll this year and look every bit like a Superbowl contender. It’s between them and New Orleans for the most impressive team of the year so far, in our eyes. No disgrace for the Packers on this day as they battled hard in a great game, but just could not close the gap.

The Panthers defeat of the Arizona Cardinals can be summed up in two words “five turnovers”. That will do it to a team every time.

The Chargers had a little trouble getting by the Raiders as the Raiders battled the whole way. We expected a little more offense from San Diego who looked a little flat. We pretty much got what we expected out of the Raiders. Maybe the Raiders could play the loser of the Cleveland / Jacksonville match-up for league door mat status.

And the Tennessee Titans finally put up a win with their pounding of the Jaguars. Vince Young looked good and this may be a turning point in the Titans season. The Jaguars on the other hand look brutal. Jacksonville / Cleveland may be a good game.

NFL Week 8 Lock #1

November 1st, 2009 by admin
Miami Vs. NY Jets
Miami heads to New York as a 3.5 underdog and these two played a great game a few weeks ago in Miami. After sliding for 3 games the Jets put it all together last week and we’re looking for them to do the same thing here. Sanchez looks like he’s got things back on track and his receivers all look to be on the same page with him. The Jets had some trouble stopping the Wildcat in their first match-up as do most defense’s but the difference here is that they’ve now seen it up close and personal once and they should be much better at defending it this time around. But that together with Miami’s collapse against the Saints last week (these types are losses are difficult to overcome), home field advantage and no doubt some weather a lot different than the sweltering temperatures in Miami the last few weeks and all things point to a Jets score. Take the Jets and give up the points.

NFL Week 8 Lock #2

Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints

Here’s two good teams going at it on the showcase Monday nighter. There is no doubt the Saints are one of the elite teams in the league and their offense is ridiculous at how fast they can move the ball down the field. They are not without flaws as evidenced by the first half in Miami last week. The problem here however is that the Falcons are a decent squad and to be a 10 ½ point underdog against anybody is just flat out way too many points. You have to take the Falcons and the points for a Monday night lock of the week.
